What you are about to see is a wholly computer generated animation.
Emily (the girl in the video below) is Not Real!

Emily was produced using a new modelling technology that enables the most minute details of a facial expression to be captured and recreated.

She is considered to be one of the first animations to have overleapt a long-standing barrier known as ‘uncanny valley’ - which refers to the perception that animation looks less realistic as it approaches human likeness.

‘Emily’ will set a new precedent for photo-realistic characters in video games and films, says her creator, Image Metrics

    Got to see it in a practical app first! Looks promising, but there have been promising technologies before that didn’t quite deliver.

    I think its fake, when the real Emily shows up at the end no changes at all? not even the hair lighting? nothing is that perfect!!

    It is too real to be believed. I have doubt that it is 100% animation. Otherwise, this is HUGE really HUGE thing. It is like a cheap human cloning.

    Uncanny valley + they should show the actual actress. She could have the same exact face and all they’re doing is some processing on the face.

    :wink: Only her face is animated. The rest of the video is the source video: her hair, torso, the chair. Notice that the face seems to swim slightly occasionally, and when they show the wireframe and material properties, it’s composited rather than being the whole body. Still an impressive capture, and it can just get better. Now, had they applied this capture to another face model, the effect would have been very impressive, and creepy.
