3lak Msaddi: the pinnacle of eloquence.

Have you ever heard this phrase: “3lak Msaddi”? even though its slang, it does hold a great deal of rhetoric eloquence. Normally the words 3lak (from 3alaka علك which is to chew) and Msaddi (from sada‘ صدأ which is rust), don’t go together in a proper pure arabic form, but when used toget in slang its actually brilliant.

3lak: to chew repeatedly over and over for a long period of time.
Msaddi: rusty, worn out, boring and petty.

3lak msaddi: a metaphor for a conversation that is worn out, old, repeated and boring.

I’m not sure if this expression is Jordanian or Syrian or what, but its my new favorite expression smile

Bakkouz..sawaleef 6arma , from the adjectif a6ram whic means deaf..so its also a way of saying it’s just a bunch of nonesense..there’s another term that says it precisely but I find it too vulgar to document:)

    1. You have a knack for making the mundane sound interesting. Like this 3lak Msaddi explanation would normally be considered 3lak Msaddi if for nothing other than its being obvious.

    2. I am in a desparate need of an art attack.
