~ The Great Wall isn’t Visible from space!
We’re all familiar with the legend of that great wall and the claim that states that the Great Wall of China is the only man-made object visible from space or from the moon with the naked eye. This is simply not true.
Here’s a photo of the area taken from Google Earth, can you tell where the great wall is? can you spot it?

Naturaly I managed to find it after some trouble, and i could have marked it on the map to make it easier for you people to spot, but i don’t want to, try to find it yourself
Go ahead, fire up your Google earth and try to find it, i promise you, it won’t be an easy task

The Discovery channel placemark gave it away :)
I had to zoom in to around 40,000 feet to see it, and once I found it, I could only just see it by zooming upto 40 miles out.

So wait… your being a little contradictory here arnt you? according to you you CAN see it. perhaps a more accurate title is “Great wall of china is difficult to see from space!”

Well, since there are highways that are much wider, and those are made out of different material than the surrounding stone, and none of THOSE are visible from space… why would anyone think the relatively narrow Great Wall would be seen?

It will depend on the time of day, objects that cast a shadow are more easily visible. Since the widest road casts no shadow, it would hardly be visible. The height and length of the Great Wall makes it possible that it would be visible from orbit, not the moon.
