~ Worlds Most Failed Countries.


The Fund For Peace has recently issued their Failed States Index Scores of 2007 that includes 177 countries.

According to the Index, The Worlds most failed states are:
1- Sudan: with an index score of 113.7
2- Iraq: 111.4
3- Somalia: 111.1
4- Zimbabwe: 110.1
5- Chad: 108.8
6- Cote d’Ivoire: 107.3
7- Democratic Republic of Congo: 105.5

While the Worlds least failed states are:
1- Norway: with an index score of 17.1
2- Finland: 18.5
3- Sweden: 19.3
4- Ireland: 19.5
5- Switzerland: 20.2
6- New Zealnd: 20.5
7- Iceland: 21.1

As for the Arabic countries, The most failed countries were:
Sudan - 113.7
Iraq - 111.4
Yemen - 93.2
Lebanon - 92.4
Egypt - 89.2
Syria - 88.6

While the least failed Arabic countries were:
Oman - 45.5
United Arab Emirates - 51.6
Qatar - 53.6
Bahrain - 57
Kuwait - 62.1
Tunisia - 65.6
Libya - 69.3

Where as Jordan came in 9th place amongst the Arabic countries with a score index of 76.6.

The Failed States Index is mainly a utility to encourage others to develop ideas for promoting greater stability worldwide. in hoping the Index will spur conversations, encourage debate, and most of all help guide strategies for sustainable security.

The scores were compiled after Hundreds of thousands of articles from global and regional sources were collected from May to December 2006 using Thomson Dialog. Utilizing their CAST software to do initial analysis of these voluminous documents and with a review by experts. after which 12 indicators were used and analyzed to determine the output and score of each country, These indicators are:
Social Indicators
1. Mounting Demographic Pressures
2. Massive Movement of Refugees or Internally Displaced Persons creating Complex Humanitarian Emergencies
3. Legacy of Vengeance-Seeking Group Grievance or Group Paranoia
4. Chronic and Sustained Human Flight
Economic Indicators
5. Uneven Economic Development along Group Lines
6. Sharp and/or Severe Economic Decline Political Indicators
7. Criminalization and/or Delegitimization of the State
8. Progressive Deterioration of Public Services
9. Suspension or Arbitrary Application of the Rule of Law and Widespread Violation of Human Rights
10. Security Apparatus Operates as a “State Within a State”
11. Rise of Factionalized Elites
12. Intervention of Other States or External Political Actors

    Hmm, Iraq isn’t that far way - 2nd place. Its really sad how Iraq went from top to bottom, like jumping off a cliff. sad
