~ Jordan’s “REAL” Most Popular Blogs
So, I read in some blogs about the article in Pulp magazine about Jordan’s most popular blogs, and even though it was a decent list, I don’t know what criteria did the editors use to determine that these are indeed Jordan’s most popular blogs, So i decided to compile a proper list based on the best impartial way i could think of, which is using Alexa and Technorati Rankings.
I am not going to list each and every Jordanian blog there is of course, however, i am going to use the blogs listed in the article plus other blogs that i believe to be popular:
Note: These Numbers are not static, which means they may change by the minute considering the massive amount of websites and traffic online. these stats were collected yesterday. so they might change. if so, its not my fault if you find a mismatch between the numbers i stated and the real-time numbers on the alexa and technorati links provided.
Note 2: I apologize if you do not see your blog among the list, its nothing personal, like i said, i can’t list every single blog there is, and if you believe your blog to be a more popular blog than the one’s i listed, then i might have missed it (i have fish memory by the way), so please, feel free to correct me.

July 19th, 2007 at 7:59 am
Man that was an awesome effort! Well done indeed!
Frankly, I would take your “fact backed” ranking over any personal “whim” of an editor of an unknown magazine called, accurately … pulp!
I hope people don’t confuse this comment with my opinions about these blogs and their owners. I consider all of these awesome blogs you mentioned great! That’s why I have almost all of them on Qwaider planet!
Again, A for the effort
(pssst, for technorati, Jad comes in #2 and AndFarAway in #3)
July 19th, 2007 at 8:04 am
Thanks Bukah and Maioush and Thank you Qwaider for the correction, its fixed :)
July 19th, 2007 at 8:18 am

July 19th, 2007 at 9:44 am
the question everyone should be asking is….who cares?
July 19th, 2007 at 9:48 am
what matters is quality … not quantity … normally whats popular has less value than whats not … i could give you 10 examples/second …
:feeling like destructive criticism:

I think that the most informative intelectual blogs in Jordan are: What is up in Jordan, Mental Mayhem, Shifaa, Black Iris. Only Black Iris made it to the list. It seems that every body is after the look and comedy stuff.
July 19th, 2007 at 6:21 pm
I think this is a great effort by you Bakkouz and it is based on real numbers. For me I really do not know why Technorati does not recognise me. I always get the message “You do not exist” from Technorati. They seem to know better then me!
July 19th, 2007 at 8:01 pm
For Alexa I got 640,304
and for Technorati I got 257,326
July 19th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
wow! I’m #1, I should get pissed from a crappy local magazine that I advised on their first issue about the graphic mistakes in using adobe indesign on their facebook group.
Thanks bakkouz
July 19th, 2007 at 8:21 pm
however, I am not Jordanian.. so I don’t count! :P
July 19th, 2007 at 8:35 pm
[…] Bakkouz, Thanks for the post, thanks for the visitors and blog readers, thanks for the unlimited support, […]
July 19th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
Nice work… I realize you said that many are not listed but I think there are some blogs with Arabic writtings that are worth looking at… Yasser Abu Hilaleh, and the other one I keep forgetting his name, al kateb al sa7′er something Nseirat…
Creative effort to say the least…
July 20th, 2007 at 1:25 am
first of all, i’m glad people are talking about the blogs on our list. the ratings were not based on numbers - they were based on the opinions of many bloggers and blog lovers, alike. bottom line, it was meant to show the talent and intelligence of some of our fellow jordanians and encourage people to look into the jordanian blogging world, not to particularly exclude anyone or create any negative competition. perhaps we should have called it “some of the best…” or something like that. luckily, we will be doing a lot more stuff about blogs in the coming issues, almost monthly, so if you have any ideas on blogs we should be featuring, please let us know by sending me an email at mosaab@grumpygourmet.com. also, regarding the comment by Moey about our “crappy local magazine,” i frankly think it’s silly to call the magazine crappy because its local and had a couple of fuzzy pictures in the first issue. we’re certainy not perfect nor do we appeal to everyone, but we’re doing all we can to expose jordanians to new things in a creative way and hopefully make them laugh a bit. none of the pulp staff is a blogger, but we are really impressed with what you guys are doing, and we are currently researching the hundreds of comments we are seeing about our list to start sifting through more of your awesome blogs. we hope that you will support this unique LOCAL venture as we support our wonderful jordanian bloggers.

Nice
July 21st, 2007 at 2:02 pm
Bakkouz, this effort is absolutely huge of you putting up this list.
it is becoming a popularity contest almost feels like bloggers, who are supposed to be intelligent and well-spoken into Jocks and Cheerleader stereotypes.
Mabrook to whoever’s happy…
and to Pulpeditor
re-consider your titles before blowing them on hundreds of issues :)
July 21st, 2007 at 2:21 pm
yes, i mentioned we would indeed reconsider the titles before “blowing” them on hundreds of issues. also, i would keep in mind that, while our list perhaps seemed a bit subjective to some of you, the number of hits a blog receives doesn’t make it good or bad, or even popular or not popular. but i’m sure you know that.
July 21st, 2007 at 6:44 pm
Actually pulpeditor,
Technically speaking, the more popular a website is the more hits it would get, a more popular blog means more people follow it and visit it, which means more hits than a least popular blog, so i would say traffic stats are a fair measure of determining popularity :)
July 21st, 2007 at 8:25 pm
i guess it depends on your definition of popular. We’re not talking about fruit here. If oranges and bananas cost the exact same and were available in the same exact amount, and people bought more oranges, that would mean oranges are more popular. however, we do not live in such a vaccuum, and other things could affect the hits a blog receives. HIT does not equal LIKE. is the most respected blog also the most popular? is the one with the most ridiculous but attention grabbing posts the most popular? is the one with the most feedback, even though it’s all negative, the most popular. is taj mahal the most voted for wonder because it is the most popular, or because there are more indians than anyone else? our next blog list is going to have different criteria. hopefully you will find it more to your liking.
July 21st, 2007 at 8:42 pm
I suppose you have a point.
Anyways, The very best of luck to you and to Pulp Magazine
July 22nd, 2007 at 12:01 am
@pulpeditor
start blogging and you will know exactly what it is all about .. if u just read blogs you will never get it well :)
about ur list its nice and as u see most of it is in the list
the question is how u made your list ? how many you ask ? or did is there a vote ?
you need to be a blogger to catch thing and see it as we see it :)
As Bakkouz say : The very best of luck to you and to Pulp Magazine
July 22nd, 2007 at 12:03 am
did is there a vote? !! LOOOL
is there a vote ?
July 22nd, 2007 at 1:13 pm
bakkouz thanks for listing my blog among those great ones..i will write a topic and include some pics of haifa wahbe and then you can see my rank jumping..
i didnt even think i have a rank..do u think it is time to use adsense and earn some money?

July 23rd, 2007 at 6:41 pm
To Pulpeditor sorry for the late reply, but you guys still can’t judge it by the type of people I bet the editor that wrote the article knows one of the bloggers she mentioned personally and I know who ;) so let’s quit playing games. and still, I bought that magazine I called crappy, sorry guys but I think you need to work alot, I personally think the design of NOX and SKIN is way better.
July 23rd, 2007 at 7:58 pm
thanks again for your feedback moey.
July 25th, 2007 at 4:50 pm
