~ iTs a Fruits Life!

The world is full of danger and uncertainty when seen through the eyes of your average fruit. Life in the typical household cornucopia is not as easy as it seems. As the humans of the house saunter into the kitchen every morning, the cowering produce lies in wait dreading the terrible ablutions awaiting them in the sink before consumption. Death it seems is inevitable, the question in a fruits mind is only When? Will the banana lying athwart the peaches be eaten first? Stripped of its yellow raiment down to its bare bodkin, then quickly devoured by a hungry child at breakfast? Or will it be left in the bowl to rot and eventually tossed away like a filthy vermin into the garbage can? The fear of being eaten is observed in more plebian fruits of the grocery store variety.

However the purer, more organic fruits seem to posses a deep wisdom and understanding of their purpose as natural human estoratives, and therefore do not durst to escape. Indeed, in parts of the world where produce is sold in open markets, many fruits actually wish for death when they see local humans walking in mendicancy, hoping to provide for the sordid vagabonds the sustenance they so desperately need.

We fruits were made to be eaten, they say, We cannot escape this fact. We are trussed to humans as much as they are trussed to us. We give them life, they give us purpose. Some fruits are so lackey out of respect for their human masters that they actually refer to them as their liege. Making the transition from grocery to bowl life can be challenging. While some of the Younger, more vulnerable fruits go insane with fear after being plucked from the safety of their paper bags after purchase, the older, wiser fruits only forbore, doing as much as they can to console the traumatized newcomers. Many offering their words of wisdom in order to goad the young fruits into accepting their new position and enjoy life as long as they have it. In fact, a sense of comradeship can be observed in many fruit bowls; the moral support provided by the older members of the bowl seems to make create close-knit ties between the fruits. The bonds between these victuals can never be annulled nor torn asunder, though they may be separated over time by the gradual consumption of their comrades. While some fruits are left stupefied by their experiences, others learn to develop a sort of pride in their role as a valuable part of the human diet.
