~ Cisco Sues Apple Over iPhone.

First of all i must say, I don’t know how Apple hasn’t seen this coming, I’m pretty sure Steve Jobs and his crew were well aware that the iPhone is a registered trademark, and i when i heard Apple released the iPhone under that name i imagined they’ve come to some terms with Cisco over using the brand name, but aparently not:

Cisco Systems Inc. said Wednesday it is suing Apple Inc. in federal court over Apple’s use of Cisco’s registered iPhone trademark for its new handheld device.

Cisco has owned the trademark on the name “iPhone” since 2000, when it acquired InfoGear Technology Corp., which originally registered the name.

And three weeks ago, Cisco’s Linksys division put the trademark to use, releasing an Internet-enabled phone called “iPhone” that uses the increasingly popular Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP.

On Tuesday, Apple unveiled the iPhone, its “game-changing” touch- screen-controlled cell phone device that plays music, surfs the Web and delivers voicemail and e-mail.

“Cisco entered into negotiations with Apple in good faith after Apple repeatedly asked permission to use Cisco’s iPhone name,” said Mark Chandler, Cisco senior vice president and general counsel, in a statement. “There is no doubt that Apple’s new phone is very exciting, but they should not be using our trademark without our permission.”

Cisco is seeking injunctive relief to prevent Apple from copying Cisco’s iPhone trademark.

“Today’s iPhone is not tomorrow’s iPhone. The potential for convergence of the home phone, cell phone, work phone and PC is limitless, which is why it is so important for us to protect our brand,” Chandler added.

From Kate’s Studio, the image is called “Blessed Art Thou” and it will be on display at the Chelsea Galleria booth at the Art Miami Fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

This painting addresses the celebrity worship cycle. The title, “Blessed Art Thou”, is taken from a line in the Catholic prayer “Hail Mary”: “…blessed art thou among women”. Our culture is deifying celebrities, but in the bible, it is the meek who are blessed, so the title presents a question for the viewer to ponder.

Angelina Jolie was chosen as the subject because of her unavoidable presence in the media, the world-wide anticipation of her child, her “unattainable” beauty and the good that she is doing in the world through her example, which adds another layer to the already complicated questions surrounding her status.

~ The Circassian Epic

The 3rd Circassian album by Ivan Bakij ,the circassian epic ,2007, will be available soon, Part of This album was recorded in the caucuses under the influence of its nature and the culture which helped in adding a good feelings and great inspiration to the music.

The album include cuts was recorded in Nalchek , the capital of kabardino balkaria, by the help of Bisher Yaroqwa Hatokay who helped in recording and mastering part of the songs and joining the band by playing on the Pxasatch, a Circassian instrument which gives beat timing and feeling to the music, The beautiful lady Dijin playing in the flute in Si Muradin and Chika Bshina as an intro in Si Muradin, Mohamed Adigha Sosnak playing on Bshina in Si Muradin and the spiritual solo Bshina in Jolani Kaffa and Nibras and his powerful playing on Bshina in Si Muradin and Pasarai Kaffa which helped him interning Nalmis group as a Bshinawa from Mxjar.

The other cuts where recorded in Amman the capital of Jordan after the return of Bakij from caucuses, The inspiration came after the Ahli club had invited him to play in the Adiga night which was held before Ramadan in that time Bakij gained the inspiration after he felt responsible for supporting Adiga culture and the Adiga feelings and Xabza passing it to the new generation with the help of Abed Amiereh who did real good study and researches about the Adiga culture and history. and in this album Bakij sing for the first time In Adiga language by the help and the support of Ali Xan, famous adiga singer and the dancing teacher of the Ahli dance group ensemble . and special thanks goes to Ammar Hina who spent a his time designing the album cover rtistically and giving spiritual support to Bakij helping him finishing the album.
