Is it just me or are girls getting prettier and prettier with each next generation? I mean, think about it, sure there were pretty girls in earlier generations but it seems today that where ever you turn your head you’re sure to see a stunning girl, the number of gorgeous girls is amazing, and its not limited to any particular race or ethnic group, its clear and present in all of them, black, white, asian, hispanic, it doesn’t matter, it seems to me that with the passing of time girls just get prettier, whats the deal? and you know what? I don’t like it, its distracting for us men, girls should stop getting prettier damn it!

Just a simple example to prove my point are movie stars, think early times, from the 50’s to the 80’s there has been a number of beautiful actresses, but not as many as there are now, think about it, the farther you go into the past you will notice that the number of gorgeous actresses could be counted by hand, there were actually only a few, and as you go forward into the future you will notice a significant increase, and these days, it is the opposite, the overwhelming majority of actresses are beautiful, only a handful of actresses are not drop dead gorgeous, and I’m not just talking about American actresses, this also applies to Arabic actresses, world wide even, correct me if I’m wrong.

I don’t know if it is the same case with men, i really didn’t pay much attention or thought about it, however, back to female beauty, i think it is some what of a phenomenon, and i’m not sure why, is it the mixing of genes throughout the generations? is it the effect of media that disillusion us by placing pressure on girls to look more beautiful and distorts our vision or reality? or is god just tempting us poor men and testing us? i do not know! oh well, its all good i suppose.

Bakkouz, as far as the actresses… I think the thing is, actors and actresses used to have to be GOOD ACTORS! Now they just have to look good! It’s the same on news programs… seems like every news show I watch, there is some ugly middle aged guy with a young hottie as his sidekick. It used to be just the old guys without the hotties.

You may be right about people becoming more attractive, in general, though. I recall my Dad (when I was a teenager in the late 1970s) ranting about how it ought to be illegal for teenage girls to look so good, and how girls didn’t look that way when he was young.

If it’s true, what do you think is causing it? People selecting mates by looks instead of other qualities, maybe?

Craig, yes, what you just about your dad proves my point, as for selecting mates just for looks, i don’t know if i agree there, i mean, of course beautify is a major factor, but i think people are more aware these days, unlike the old days when beauty was the dominant factor for selecting a spouse, these days i think men look for a more educated intelligent woman, and if she’s pretty, the better :)

Qabbani, I don’t think plastic surgery has much effect on the issue, I’m talking about natural beauty and its evolution over the decades :)

Beauty Comes from Mind ;) and charm comes from your Mind not face :)

  9. Lasto adri *Blue* on Sun, 21st Jan 2007 11:11 am

In fact its the number of actresses increasing. For example, lets say there used to be 10 pretty acretess in the past, that makes it 50% of the whole lot of actersses then, So the 20 pretty ones you find now still make the 50% of today’s lot.
    thats a one thing.

the 2nd thing is, for every era there are its beauty lets say “measures”.. Your great grand father used to like her fat. Now I don’t think you’d like her fat, even if, then not “that” fat as he used to think :S
YUCk! I’d never imagine I’d like a guy who is “m2ata3 el samaka w delha” (a playa in egyptian slang) as girls may have thought in the early 70’s :S

Soo, things differe and our mentalities differe too. I don’t think God would not equally distribute any of the earthly qualities like : beauty, smartness.. etc from time to time, or place to another..

  10. Abu Hamarneh on Sun, 21st Jan 2007 11:17 am

dude,,, beauty is relative and its standards are changing through generations,, like in the 50’s ,,, hair styles and dresses were totally different,, as well as in the 80’s and I think that why you might laugh actually when you see a picture of an actress in the 80’s while the older generation were having a totally different reaction that starts with their eye balls popping out…. lool

I know that you are talking about natural beauty,,, but dude,,, believe its relative and its related directly to fashion and moda… and you cant consider one without considering the other,,,,

And you know what,,, we are damn lucky to have a massive beauty attack on TV’s… hell its good

  11. bakkouz on Sun, 21st Jan 2007 11:37 am

Blue and Abu Hamarneh: You have a point, but i think beauty standards will not differ that much over the years, i mean pretty is pretty, we all agree on that, this is not the subject of what defines beauty, like i don’t think anybody would say Angelina jolie isn’t beautiful, that is nobody in his right mind would argue that she is ugly, however and in overall even with any era’s standards if you compare the generations of today with the 60’s you will see a vast gap between the number of beautiful people now and then, and i’m not taking about the acctresses, i only mentioned actresses as an example, thing of everyday life.

Also its not relative to fashion and moda, the issue here is natural female beauty disregarding the other accessories. look at it from a abstract point of view, you’ll know what i’m talking about.

As for distributing qualities i think that is not true, I think in my opinion the mixing of genes throughout the years has contributed alot, for example, look at current african-americans, african-america females due to interracial marriages at present have much different characteristics than your typical african female, much softer features, smoother hair, narrower nose, etc …

:) I don’t disagree with your opnion, but not fully with it still. Look. Another example.
Not because scientists nowadays are having all those fully equiped labs, with the high tech. stuff to output the longest equation in seconds (such equations that the elder people were staring at hopelessly for ages), means that smartness degree has increased…
    never…

You say the afrio-american nations are looking prettier now. believe it or not, its only from your own point of view :) even in the ancient dayss when they were with pure african genes, there were others who thought they can’t resist their beauty…
You like her blond, others like her tanned “samra”.. etc..

So still, God does equally distribute earthly traits (and the way we precieve it) everywhere & all the time..

Wish you got my point Bakkouz..
    Morning to you :)

Hey, wait a minute! I think you’re implying we old fogies aren’t as pretty! I think that’s just silly. Next you’ll be saying that kids are taller now too. What? They are??? Ah Bakkouz, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and 30 years ago, Angelina wouldn’t even have been a blip. That whole puffy lipped look just wasn’t where it was at. No one would ahve thought she was ugly, but she also wouldn’t have been held up as the standard. Now, Farrah Fawcett! That’s some gorgeous woman, right? See what I mean man. But, don’t downplay the role that plastic surgery has had. It would not surprise me to find that many of the lovelies you posted above have had work done to be in the Hollywood machine… At any rate, nice post and good discussion. Thanks as always.

so all the points mentioned by the visitors here are true

things changed, people’s standards changed, what was viewed as pretty once is ugly now, lips were supposed to be thin..look at old arabic movies..see laila murad’s lips downsized with lipstick to look thinner..this goes for other features..media also contributed alot to set these standards.when a model weighing 40 kgs is looked at as stunning,u know the standard is skinny..

in old times..very old times..women used to put something like wires under their dresses to show they have hips(i saw that in a movie) see old paintings..how women used to look like

now don’t forget photoshop and its great effects in coming out with flawless skins and perfect bodies..in real life not all these actresses are so gorgous..but how could an average man tell?if average men didn’t even have the chance to come close enough and check..

now genes and mixed marriage have contributed alot also in producing a new generation tat is totaly differant from that in old days.this is true..see mariah carrey?

but as u can see men don’t really care if it was the outcome of make up or plastic surgery..unless of course the ones you r talkig about are their wives..then men really care a lot ;)

I think it is not only women’s dna, photography and plastic surgery have their share in this too.

  18. Batir on Sat, 10th Feb 2007 2:27 am

Bakkouz to begin with I advise you to get a wife!
Then, all the photos you have posted and the notes about beauty maybe a result of the “need for glamour” that is sweeping the teenager’ girls’ life now. They even want to stop eating and get sick to be thin. The avalanch of make up and the revealing clothes add up to the mixture and you have increased levels of terstosteron even by walking in the streets of Aqaba!

It so funny to know that beautiful woman are distracting you. It is obvious that us women used products to maintain our beauty. I hope guys will also do the same. Thank you for posting this issue!

Your right that women are getting more prettier today. I think that they are more vain than they were before, it is also because of the new products that enhances their beauty. I also agree that the genes are combined and resulted to a new beautiful faces.

Obviously, more and more women are using beauty products to maintain their beauty. Well, i need to admit that they can really distract anyone with their beautiful faces.
