On Spam That is, I’ve been recently facing a vicious spam attack that is just insane, it would seem that its a new and advanced kind of spam, spam that doesn’t need to go through any procedure to be able to infiltrate your blog, no matter what you do or what kind of anti spam tool you use, it will just laugh in your face and keep coming. it easily skips IP blockage, word verification, blacklisted words, or anything for that matter.

imagine this, i installed Spam Karma 2 and configured all the settings to super strong, that is with akismet still installed and working, and a top of all that i installed a word verification system which is the math tool to prevent bots, and i thought HAH you’re never getting past all my defenses now you evil spam bots you, but guess what? they did! its incredible. seriously, I mean, FOR GODS SAKE, how in gods name is this possible? what kind of crazy super spam bot is this!? and just to give you an idea on the magnitude of the spam comments i’m getting, I’ve had 2268 spam comments in less than 14 days. thats insane! but the war goes on, and I SHALL BE VICTORIOUS, and to me will go the spoils!

And in other news…

While I was checking my traffic stats for yesterday, i noticed i’ve had about 9000 hits, which is about double my usual daily hits, and i thought that was strange, and a quick glance at the referring websites box revelaed the answer: I WAS DUGG! woohoo. thats amazing , thats like getting visited by the pope or like the king’s visit to hashem restuarant, its a big deal not becuase of the numbers but more of a status kind of thing, you know, like, I was dugg, I’m somebody now
now, if you don’t know what “dugg” means then go check out http://www.digg.com, which is a social news website where the news are made and promoted by the community, they vote on the news and chose their favourite and as you might imagine it has a HUGE user base, and having your website on digg is something that will sure to get you some decent traffic, Now, im my case, i didn’t get dugg directly, which is to say that web blog didn’t get featured on the front page in a news story, which if happend would have not double but multiplied my daily hit stats by 100, infact there’s a term for being featured and visited by the digg users community, its called the digg effect, and it can be so severe that it could actulay bring your website down. however in my case i only was featured as a second link in the second comment on a front page news story, and that alone doubled my daily hits, imagine that? its incredible
