One of our professors in uni had this on his office door. Except it said ‘bastard’ instead of idiot

and i saw it before but will be printing it out and adding it in my office next to the picture of the homeless person holding a sign that reads “need cash for alcohol research” and the “iyas rules” banner a colleague printed for me the other day

May I admit that this really is more of a “boy” flowchart for problem solving? At the risk of being bashed for being sexist, it seems to me that the male population is the one that’s always trying to “fix” electronics and what not. This seems to be proportionally true when the male in question has no actual knowledge of the gadget. Reminds me of when El 3atal tried to “fix” our baby monitor. It was the TV style and he decided that since the reception wasn’t good, he needed a signal booster. Surely inserting a screwdriver was the right option. He fried the thing and we never were able to replace it with one that worked half as well. Me, I would have simply tried moving it… Call it a “girl” thing.

With all creative problem solving, as I have found, part of the “problem” is how we DEFINE the “problem”. When a person says, “problem” for many people, this word means an excuse to become overwhelmed or, at worst, to give up. Change the label and change the experience. Instead of calling something a “problem” why not call it a: situation, challenge, creative opportunity, test-from-God, spiritual barbells and dumbbells or any host of positive alternatives. Why make “problem” a PROBLEM?
