~ The truth in advertising
I went to the supermarket the other day to buy some groceries and stuff I naturaly had to buy some snacks and chocolate bars one of my favourites is the Safari chocolate bar manufactured by Ghandour, its tasty and cheap, as i went to pick some i noticed two boxes, one with regular safari bars and one with extra bars (+20% quantity, same price) so i thought hmm good deal! however, out of curiosity i wanted to know how much in grams is this 20% extra i’m getting for free, so i checked the details printed on the bars what i found out was very interesting:

This is the regular safari bar, net weight= 36 Grams.

This is the extra safari bar, net weight= 36 Grams.
Yes, Both weighed exactly the same, whats up with that? I wonder where is my 20% extra placed? is it not in chocolate volume? maybe its in the amount of air? or paper wrap? Who knows!

Could it be that they used the same paper wrap, but only added the %20 part later on? I don’t think they’re even allowed to have such a promotion without permission from the Chamber of Commerce or the Chamber of Industry, but again, who follows the rules in Jordan anyway?

Jameel, I have not noticed the difference in the bars, they looked the same size to me, however to make sure i will check today for honesty’s sake.

Being in Packaging Industry for the last 8 years and supplying Ghandour in Jeddah, I believe this is just a common oversight. The artwork designer must have simply added the promo flash to existing artwork and forgot to change the net weight. I see things like this all the time.
However, this could be easily verified by weighing this bar against a regular one.

I’d go to the company or something! hehehe
7aram the company is not selling well with all the other chocolates in the market. I mean, people are totally not supporting Jordan-Made chocolates! I like Roberts and Hipp and Moody if you remember them!

In the US, Ghadour would get sued. So, that’s why kit kats are actually bigger. There are actually laws requiring “truth in advertising”. So, more lawsuits = more truth (except in the case of the US government, where more lawsuits = absolutely nothing). Bakkouz, I’m impressed that you actually investigated. Most people would have thought, hmmm… and then forgotten it.

Bakkouz;
curiosity killed the cat, so as long as you are in Jordan you should visit a doctor to stop this so killing dinasour that keeps your curiosity active and btw dude you should listen to DanaH at least because she’s the only Dana with H.

hmmm .. good question .. could be .. kitkat can really afford the extra size offer .. maybe Ghandour does not .. that’s why they delusion you with it .. who knows !

Danah: then explain why does the new 30% extra kitkat looks bigger and is actually, and why other foreign products do not lie to customers

One of the reasons of advertising .. is to make you believe of certain things that doe not exist .. here .. naturally .. they would go for the human greed of the bigger/the more.. the better .. however it looks like they did not investigate the human curiosity (ma 7asabo 7sabha sheklo )… as in your case ;)
