~ The size of emptiness
Ever wondered about the size of the universe? what about the atom and how much empty space is there inside the atom? well, the guys over at phrenopolis.com have, They’ve posted a page illustrating a scaled up model of the hydrogen atom to demonstrate how much emptiness there is inside an atom, its quite astonishing, the page works out to a massive fifty million pixels wide, thats about 11 miles between the proton and the electron, scroll the page to the far right until you see the electron, the proportions and sheer amount of emptiness are amazing. Check out the the page Here.
they’ve also performed another similar and very intersting experiment, the Solar system perspective exmpirment, which domenstrates the distances between planets and the sun using scaled down models, its amazing, check it out Here.
